In observance of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Youth Initiative Development Programme (YIDP), in partnership with the Triple I Foundation, convened this high-level technical huddle to address a sobering reality: 1 in 6 African adolescents face debilitating anxiety, yet less than 15% of schools have a mental health protocol.
In this landmark session, CEO Collince Dundo and a distinguished panel of experts from UNESCO, Grassroot Soccer, DBA and ISSUP Kenya Chapter explore why we find billions for “Jersey Branding” but $0 for the psychosocial infrastructure of the child wearing the jersey. 🛡️⚽🧠
Inside this Session:
✅ Dr. Pamela Kaithuru (ISSUP): On reimagining the pitch as a Public Health Sanctuary.
✅ Hugue Ngatta (UNESCO): On mandatory accreditation for Safe Sports.
✅ Charmaine Nyakonda (GRS): On the 46% reduction in symptoms through the MindSkills model.
✅ Leeon Nyang Oduor (DBA Africa): On keeping mental health tools “Gym-Bag Ready.”
Roadmap to Nairobi (Nov 2026):
This archive serves as the technical foundation for the Continental Youth Sports & Wellbeing Summit. Join the movement to move Africa from “Play to Protection.”
The Youth Initiative Development Programme (YIDP), in partnership with the Triple I Foundation, is proud to announce the successful conclusion of Virtual Roundtable II, a high-level technical huddle convened in preparation for the Continental Youth Sports & Wellbeing Summit (Nairobi, November 2026).
While our inaugural session established the need for mental health, Roundtable II shifted to the structural “How.” We moved beyond “Jersey Branding” toward Resilience Infrastructure, exploring the financial and policy frameworks required to protect Africa’s human capital.
Strategic Highlights:
Venture Philanthropy: Conceptualized the “Potluck Model” of Blended Finance with Dr. Shadrack Opon (AVPA) to de-risk the mental health sector.
The Architecture of Protection: Keynote Nahom Birru Jember (EngenderHealth) defined “Protection as Development,” urging a move from episodic programs to institutionalized ecosystems.
The Science-to-Pitch Bridge: Dr. Richard Ndambiri (UNESCO Chair, KU) issued the mandate to “Coach the Athlete, Not the Sport,” focusing on decolonizing sports psychology for the African boy-child.

The Youth Initiative Development Programme (YIDP), in partnership with the Triple I Foundation, is proud to announce the successful conclusion of Virtual Roundtable III: “Voices on the Field.” This session served as a landmark Global Youth Exchange, convened as a critical technical buildup to the Continental Youth Sports & Wellbeing Summit (Nairobi, November 2026).
In a radical shift from previous policy-led huddles, Roundtable III centered the lived experiences of student-athletes from Kenya, the USA, and China. The dialogue successfully deconstructed the “Performance-Wellbeing Paradox” through the eyes of those navigating the frontlines of pressure.
Strategic Highlights:
The Identity Shield: Addressing the crisis of “Identity Foreclosure” by transitioning athletes from “professional assets” to Student-Leaders.
The Digital Gaze: Analyzing the impact of 24/7 social media scouting and algorithmic validation on adolescent cognitive function.
Redefining Grit: A cross-continental consensus that Psychological Safety is a high-performance competitive advantage, not a clinical weakness.

We have documented these voices in a comprehensive Strategic Synthesis Report, designed to inform the “Journalism & Advocacy” module of the Mind Ball Technical Manuals.
